Beyond the robust business experience and wisdom, what distinguishes the most Alain Dunand from other senior business consultants is his capability of hands-on working by the client for executing strategic and technological projects across international markets, with start-ups as well as maturing businesses.

Alain started his professional career as research engineer with Dowell-Schlumberger, a subsidiary of Schlumberger Ltd, which specializes in oil well treatments. His focus was on computer modeling and experimentation of hydraulic fracturing.

He has served as member of the board of multiple international subsidiaries in Europe and Asia, and as scientific advisor or industry expert in boards of universities, public research laboratories, and industrial institutions. He has managed several European collaborative R&D programs.

Alain holds master degrees in mechanical engineering and material sciences from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Métiers (Paris) and in business and administration from I.A.E. Grenoble. He earned his doctorate in fluid mechanics from University of Grenoble.

Alain is a member of the International Society of Imaging Science and Technology. He has authored and co-authored multiple publications in international journals and he speaks regularly at industry conferences. He is inventor or co-inventor of 10 patents.

Alain Dunand is founder and majority owner of Auguste Consulting. He started his independent consulting practice in 2014, after three decades of executive management and real-life operational experience with high-technology companies involved in international markets.

Alain’s most recent professional background is with Markem-Imaje, under Dover Corporation’s Printing and Identification Group, where is served for 15 years as a Vice President R&D and Vice President Strategic Development.

As Vice President Strategic Development, Alain has built an outstanding experience in business strategy as part of the steady development of activities, with annual revenues more than quadrupling over the period. In particular, he led the external growth activities and contributed directly to the successful execution and integration of more than ten acquisitions in Europe and USA - with transaction values ranging from few US$M to several US$M100s. He has led teams through approach and discussions with dozens of acquisition targets, managed critical transitions and turnarounds of business units worldwide.

As Vice President R&D, he was also directing technology development and innovation activities - overseeing 7 R&D centers in Europe, USA and India – with oversight on new product development activities covering continuous ink jet, drop on demand ink-jet, laser, valve jet, and thermal printing technologies. He also assumed the role of Chief Intellectual Property officer.

Prior to this, Alain worked for 10 years with Imaje S.A., a high-growth entrepreneurial start-up company specialized in ink jet coding and marking, which Dover acquired in 1995. As member of the executive board, his primary focus was on design and development of new coding and marking products, and the development of new technologies. He led directly the design activities for new continuous ink-jet print-heads. He also directed the growth of new businesses in industrial ink-jet printing of billboards, floorings and textiles.
